If you’ve been looking for a way to embed a YouTube Playlist in Cooliris, you’ve come to the right place! Read on and I’ll show you exactly how to get the job done.

If you are reading this, and have no idea what a Cooliris Video Wall is, I suggest you immediately click this link to see one in action. Now that you have seen it, I know you are already cooking up some great ideas on how you can start rocking a video wall on your own blog or website.

Setting up your own video wall using all the videos in your YouTube Channel is simple enough. Just follow the easy instructions, and you’ll be up in running in no time. But what if you don’t want to feature ALL of your videos on the wall? What if you are like me, and you just want to feature a specific playlist only? Unfortunately, Cooliris doesn’t give you the option to do so.

This was exactly my situation. I wanted an easy and cool way to highlight just the videos that I’ve starred in and not necessarily all of the videos on my YouTube Channel. Because Cooliris couldn’t do what I needed it to do, I had to figure it out on my own. Fear not intrepid reader, because you (yes, YOU) can manipulate the Cooliris embed code to display whatever YouTube Playlist you choose. Let’s roll up those sleeves a little and do some code manipulation, shall we?

Step 1. Head over to the Cooliris Express Builder, select YouTube as your content source, and choose your video source to be “From a user”. Then enter the name of the user who created the playlist.

Step 2. If this is your first Video Wall, feel free to play around with the customization settings a bit to
get a feel for what can be done. After customizing your wall, you are ready to publish.

Step 3. Hit the Publish Button and copy the embed code

Step 4. Next we need to tweak the embed code to accept our YouTube Playlist. Paste your embed code into your html editor or text editor. Below Your code should look something like what’s pictured below. I’ve highlighted the strings we need to change.

Step 5. Next, navigate to the YouTube Playlist that you’d like to feature in your video wall. You will need to copy the file-path identifier and append it to this url (replace the x’s)

Step 6. Copy your new url and then go back to your html editor and replace the highlighted code pictured above with the contents of your clipboard. Your Cooliris embed code should now look like this:

Step 7. Copy the embed code and paste in to your webpage. Publish you page and POW! you now have a Cooliris Video Wall featuring videos from a specific YouTube Playlist.
